Write for Renaissance
Become a contributor
Renaissance publishes original articles by scholars, notable figures, and thought leaders working at the intersection of classical Muslim values and contemporary discourse. To be considered, send us a short topic proposal and a sample of your previous writing — the editorial team reviews proposals as they come in.
The next edition
The Ottoman period.
Keep this in mind as you write your proposal.
The next edition of Renaissance centres on the Ottoman period — one of the most expansive and consequential chapters in Islamic civilisation. Contributors are encouraged to explore the Ottoman legacy through historical, intellectual, spiritual, legal, artistic, or socio-political lenses. Topics will be finalised individually between each author and the Al-Nahda team.
Examples of thematic directions
- 01 Ottoman contributions to Islamic scholarship and jurisprudence
- 02 Architecture and art as expressions of spiritual identity
- 03 The role of Ottoman institutions in Muslim social cohesion
- 04 The decline, the legacy, and what can be learned from it
Authors are not limited to these — bring your area of expertise and we will find the right frame together.
What we’re looking for
- 01 A topic that bridges the classical Muslim intellectual tradition with a contemporary question
- 02 Academic, rigorous tone — balanced, factual, and accessible rather than opinionated
- 03 Original argument or analysis, not commentary on news cycles
- 04 Final pieces run between 3,000 and 4,000 words with citations in Chicago style
